Build one complete squad first

A reliable five-hero squad is a better first goal than spreading EXP, Skill Medals and universal shards across every UR hero. Keep two durable front-row heroes and use the back row for damage and support.

The tiers below are investment recommendations based on skill roles. They are not measured win-rate rankings. Stars, skill levels, equipment, faction matchups and your available heroes can change the best choice.

Match your squad to the fight

GoalWhat to prioritizeHow to adjust
Monsters & boss damageDamage dealers plus team attack supportKeep enough durability to survive the full fight. Charles Martel boosts all five allies’ ATK; Edward can reduce a target’s DEF. Compare actual damage reports.
Attacking other squadsBack-row pressure, area damage and frontline survivalMulan targets the back row; Saladin prioritizes a back-row target and reduces its attack speed.
Garrison & defenseDamage reduction across your formationCleopatra protects the whole team; Ragnar protects the front row; Frederick I adds counterattacks and extra Legion synergy.

Spend resources in this order

  • Keep your main squad near its available hero-level cap before leveling bench heroes.
  • Use hero-specific shards on heroes you actively field. Save universal UR shards until you have chosen a long-term squad.
  • Prioritize the damage and survival skills you rely on. Check the star requirements as well as the hero-level requirement before planning an unlock.
  • Upgrade equipment to suit the role: frontline survival first when tanks are dying; damage upgrades when your team survives but cannot finish.
  • Save recruitment tickets and shard spending for an event that rewards them when doing so will not block your immediate progress.

Use your existing roster

A higher-tier hero at low stars may perform worse than a well-developed alternative. Compare both heroes in the same formation, with comparable equipment, against the same target before making an expensive replacement.

Promoted UR versions without published skill descriptions are left unrated rather than borrowing the original rarity’s skills. See Tavern recruitment for ticket-pool timing and the hero calculators for exact EXP and shard costs.
