Battle Barrier improves all-damage reduction for both front-row heroes throughout battle. Shieldwall follows for additional Martial protection.

  1. 1Battle Barrier
  2. 2Shieldwall
  3. 3Shield Bash
Starting recommendation · sustained frontline protection

Use this order when skills have similar levels and costs. A cheap upgrade to another useful skill can be better than an expensive level in your first priority. Skill 3 requires hero level 21.

In PvP

Against a heavily Martial team, consider Shieldwall sooner. At 5 stars its fixed duration is 8 seconds, while medal levels add 0.3 percentage points of Martial reduction per level. This can rival the passive when uptime and incoming Martial share are high.

What stars change

Stars raise Shieldwall’s duration and starting strength. Medals raise its reduction, not its duration.

Skill 4: Ultimate Potential

Increases this Hero's HP, ATK, and DEF by 20%, and skill cooldown speed by 10%. The client lists hero level 31 and rank 21 (the 4-star milestone) as its unlock requirements. It is a fixed unlock, not a fourth medal-upgrade track in this calculator.

Exact cost schedule

Every UR skill level cost

The first three skills use the same medal schedule across all 15 regular UR heroes. The client’s maximum for these skills is level 30 at 5 stars. The wider cost array also contains higher levels; those are excluded here because the regular UR star variants do not unlock them.

A stronger squad, not just a higher skill

How to spend medals efficiently

  1. Build the squad you actually use. Develop your main damage dealer and the protection needed to keep the team alive before distributing medals across a second or third squad.
  2. Unlock the kit before following the full order. Skills 2 and 3 require hero levels 5 and 21. Until the passive is unlocked, improve the skills you can use. At 0–1 stars, the upgradeable skills are capped at level 1.
  3. Check the next purchase, not just the first priority. Level 9 → 10 costs 5,000 medals, while 10 → 11 costs 10,000. Level 19 → 20 costs 20,000, while 20 → 21 costs 40,000. A useful lower-level skill can give more value before you cross one of these jumps.
  4. Do not confuse stars with medals. Extra projectiles, extra targets, Crit Rate and several special effects are fixed by the star variant. Medals increase only the parts with per-level growth shown in the hero comparison.
  5. Separate boss damage from survival. If the tank already survives the whole boss fight, more tank levels may not improve your score as much as damage investment. If the team dies early, protection may be the limiting factor.
  6. Keep a useful passive developed. Damage passives improve both matching damage sources. They are third in the equal-cost starting order here, not a skill to ignore while spending tens of thousands per attack level.

Common questions

Should I max the first skill in the order before touching the others?

No. The order is a starting recommendation at comparable levels and costs. Keep the other useful skills developed, especially when their next upgrades cost much less.

Why can the PvP and boss order be different?

An attack hitting several distinct enemies loses much of its total damage when only one enemy remains. Repeated random strikes can still concentrate on that enemy. That is why Joan, Hannibal and Edward are treated differently from Attila, Mulan and five-target area attacks.

Is this a universal best order for every battle?

No single order covers every squad, opponent and upgrade budget. The guide separates source-backed effects and costs from recommendations, explains the important exceptions and exposes the raw-growth comparison. It does not claim to reproduce the combat engine.

Sources & method

Effects, star variants, level caps, configured attack intervals and medal schedules are extracted from the original Top Lords 1.0.41 client. The guide covers the 15 regular UR heroes and excludes unreleased promotion versions.

Damage starting orders compare the added raw damage coefficient per configured second for basic and active attacks at equal cost, with the selected number of available enemies. Support and tank priorities are editorial judgments based on target coverage, persistent protection and role. These are not official developer recommendations or a tested full-combat simulator.

Only the per-level change is shown for scalable effects. This avoids presenting an unverified absolute-tooltip formula as an exact in-game value. PvE targeting follows skill descriptions and hit structure; live boss immunities, attack patterns and combat timing take precedence.

Edward’s higher-star arrow count is resolved using the matching skill parameter and battle cast count, which agree on 15/20 despite a hardcoded “10” in some localized descriptions. Costs follow the client’s per-level schedule; no live-account purchase was performed to independently trace the cost lookup.
