Kingdom Laws & Punishments: Marks, debuffs & pardons

Know which actions break Kingdom Laws, what all seven Brands do, who can punish or pardon, and how Wanted and public violation records work.

Top Lords Kingdom crown

Start here: laws, Brands and Wanted

Kingdom Laws define protected actions. Proceeding past a law warning automatically creates a violation record. A Brand is a punitive title assigned by an official; Wanted is a separate King Skill. Do not read a violation entry as proof that a Brand or Wanted was automatically applied.

This is a Top Lords Intel community manual based on game files and English game text. It is not an official developer-issued manual. Check your kingdom’s enacted laws, selected scope and current in-game countdowns.

The three Kingdom Laws

Open Capital Management → Kingdom Laws to inspect the laws currently in effect. A law’s name alone does not tell you its selected scope.

Who is protected, and where?

Each law has its own scope: leadership chooses who it applies to and where it takes effect. The interface includes a top-alliance power range and Castle Locations options for Your Kingdom or All Kingdoms. The Castle law’s range label is Non-Aggression Range.

The three law definitions each contain a range parameter of 10. That bundled parameter is not proof that every kingdom currently protects exactly its top ten alliances. Read the enacted range in your game.

All Kingdoms is a location setting. The law descriptions still refer to Lords of this Kingdom; it does not establish a ban on attacking every foreign Lord.

Warnings and the Violation Log

Affected Lords receive a Law Violation Warning before breaking an enacted law. The warning allows them to proceed anyway; doing so automatically adds a record to the Kingdom Violation Log. These laws are backed by warnings and records, rather than an unconditional block on the action.

Records identify the violator and victim and describe the relevant Castle attack, Trade Wagon plunder or Bounty Task plunder. The log retains only its latest 100 records.

The Violation Log resets every Monday at 00:00, or when the Capital changes hands. Use server time. A log reset is not evidence that an assigned punishment has been pardoned.

Why Crime Rankings or the log may be hidden

The King controls publication. The interface provides Post Rankings, Post Logs and Recall. Crime Rankings can be posted or recalled; access checks whether the rankings have been announced. The Violation Log cannot be viewed by regular players until the King publishes it.

A hidden or recalled list does not establish that nobody broke the law. Publication controls visibility; the recorded-violation flow is separate.

For a transparent kingdom, leadership should explain the active scope and publish the relevant rankings/logs so players can see the recorded actions. This is a governance recommendation, not an extra game rule.

All seven Marks / Brands and their debuffs

The English client calls these punitive titles Brands. Players may refer to them as Marks. Each listed modifier is −1%, including its Conqueror variant.

What a Brand prevents

The game explicitly blocks a punished Lord from applying for a Favor or Royal Title. This restriction matters in addition to the Brand’s listed stat reduction.

These are modifiers to the named stats. A −1% speed modifier does not establish a universal one-percent increase in every player’s completion time; actual timing depends on the full speed calculation and other bonuses.

Brand of Glut is also known as Brand of Gluttony.

Who can punish, pardon or enact laws?

The King can enact and edit laws. The Chancellor can do so only after the King authorizes that permission. Authorization to use King Skills is a separate permission.

Repeat offenders: do Brands stack or reset their duration?

The inspected game code does not apply a per-violation multiplier to a Brand. Each Brand’s government effect is −1%, and the office-bonus overview reads the current title’s effect once. Its calculation does not multiply that value by the number of law violations.

Choosing the same Brand for its current holder opens a Pardon confirmation and sends the removal operation. This normal action does not reapply the Brand, raise its percentage or restart a punishment timer.

When another update arrives for the same effect and status ID, the client replaces the stored value; it does not add another copy of −1%. This behavior was checked by running the original bytecode with stubbed inputs.

The seven Brand status definitions have level 1 and no fixed countdown in their bundled duration field. The appointment cooldown is separate. Reaching the end of that cooldown is not evidence that the Brand automatically expires.

The server supplies current effect values and status end times. The offline client therefore cannot settle whether a live server applies an additional repeat-offender policy. No verified live response or server code establishes such a policy here. The supported conclusion is that automatic stacking or duration resetting is not performed by the inspected normal client flow; a universal server-side rule remains unconfirmed.

How punishment and pardoning work

Open Capital Management → Punishment, select the punitive title and select a Lord. The game asks for confirmation before punishment. A punishment announcement names the official, punished Lord and assigned Brand.

A punitive title requires a pardon to remove it. Selecting the same Brand and its current holder opens a Pardon confirmation. Assigning the Brand to another Lord instead opens a confirmation stating that the previous holder will be pardoned.

The bundled appointment/action cooldown is 72 hours from the title’s appointment time. The interface uses the server clock and shows the remaining action cooldown. Follow the current in-game value: this setting is read through the client’s configurable data system.

The Brand status definitions have no fixed expiry countdown. Do not treat the 72-hour action cooldown as a guaranteed three-day punishment or automatic pardon. The server also supplies position/status timing, so a universal automatic expiry rule cannot be established offline.

The client stores one current kingdom position for the player, and its office-bonus overview applies one matching title’s effect map. This is separate from other sources of bonuses and penalties, such as building positions, and does not establish every possible server-side status combination.

The law/log reset rules do not establish what happens to every Brand when the throne changes hands. No claim that Monday’s reset automatically pardons punished players is supported.

Wanted: five minutes without Shield or active teleport

Wanted is separate from the seven Brands. The King Skill targets a selected Lord in the kingdom, removes any active Shield and prevents Shield activation or active Castle teleporting while Wanted is active.

Its configured duration is 300 seconds (five minutes), and it costs 1,000,000 Kingdom Funds. The skill has one configured use in its weekly cycle; the game description says it resets every Monday at 00:00.

A Wanted Notice announces the target. Do not apply Wanted’s Shield or teleport restrictions to every Brand: those restrictions are specifically documented for Wanted.

King’s checklist: enact and explain the rules

  • Open Kingdom Laws, choose each law’s alliance-power range and location scope, then enact it.
  • Check carefully before confirming: each law has its own 24-hour edit cooldown.
  • Authorize the Chancellor’s law-editing and King-Skill permissions separately when delegation is intended.
  • Explain the active laws and selected scope to players before enforcing them.
  • Publish the Crime Rankings and Violation Log when players should be able to inspect them; Recall changes their public visibility.
  • Use Punishment to select a Brand and target. Check any replacement/pardon confirmation and the appointment cooldown.
  • When the Capital changes hands, all active laws reset. The new King must enact them again. The text does not say that a weekly log reset automatically cancels Brands.

Player’s checklist: before acting or asking for a pardon

  • Inspect the current Kingdom Laws and their selected scope before attacking a Castle or plundering a same-kingdom Wagon or Bounty Task.
  • Read a Law Violation Warning before confirming. Proceeding creates a record even if public logs are hidden.
  • If punished, identify your exact Brand and its affected stat using the table above.
  • Remember that punishment also blocks Favor and Royal Title applications.
  • Ask the King or Chancellor about a pardon and the current appointment cooldown. Do not assume the countdown guarantees automatic removal.
  • If Wanted, expect your active Shield to be removed and Shield activation and active teleporting to remain blocked for the five-minute status.
